E. Zachary Horton

Zach Horton is a Greenville native whose practice focuses primarily on estate planning, probate and trust administration, and related business and transactional matters. With more than 25 years of legal experience, Zach assists individuals, families, fiduciaries, and business owners with planning for the transfer and protection of assets, administering estates and trusts, and addressing the legal issues that often arise following the death or incapacity of a family member. 

Zach works with clients to develop estate plans tailored to their particular circumstances and objectives, including wills, revocable trusts, powers of attorney, health care directives, and more sophisticated trust and tax planning when appropriate. He also represents personal representatives, trustees, beneficiaries, and families in probate and trust administration matters and advises closely held businesses and their owners on formation, governance, succession planning, and business transactions. 

A significant part of Zach’s practice involves helping clients navigate complicated family, property, and fiduciary issues in a practical and understandable manner. His accounting background and advanced tax education provide an additional perspective when addressing estate, trust, tax, and business-planning matters. 

Zach received his B.S. in Accounting, magna cum laude, from Clemson University in 1997. He received his J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2000 and his LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Alabama School of Law in 2011.
